Samsonite paralux suitcase review
So today I'm going to be reviewing the Samsonite Paralux carry-on. This is a brand new range from Samsonite that came out in September 2025. Samsonite talks about merging all the amazing organisations with sustainable innovation, and I really felt that when I was testing out the Samsonite Paralux suitcase. First impressions and unboxing
So what are the first impressions of the Samsonite Paralux carry-on? It definitely looks like innovation straight from the outside. Innovation, but also security, when I was giving it a good test. One of the first things I actually noticed was that it had a TSA lock, but two locks on the side of it, which was really interesting. In terms of the packaging, it looks solid. I knew it was going to be different to some of the other Samsonite suitcases that I've reviewed in the past.

Materials and durability
So what is the Samsonite Paralux suitcase actually made out of? The exterior part is made out of 50% recycled polypropylene. And then the trolley tubes, which are the rods that go to the handle, are 100% recycled aluminium.
I really like the fact that there's a lot of recycled suitcase material in this suitcase. Polycarbonate is very durable and is usually a shock-resistant material. Now, usually I go for a more lightweight option like a fabric, however this was really lightweight and I've tended to go off fabrics a little bit because of bad experiences when condensation or rain came through when travelling around Europe.
I've actually put in my Samsonite Paralux suitcase review video below, me testing the hardness of the front, so you can see the sounds it makes when I'm running my hands over it but also when I gave it a real good bash. You can tell it's going to take a shock.
Aesthetic and style options
In terms of aesthetics and style, I think it looks really quite nice. It looks solid. I've also got a video of me pulling it along and it just looks compact. It does come in a few different colours. I was looking at the stone grey. It also comes in an olive, a black, and a midnight navy last time I checked.
Size, capacity, and organisation
Dimensions and expandability
I only did a Samsonite Paralux carry-on review, and that was 55 centimetres by 38 by 22, and that actually includes the wheels. It weighs 3 kilograms for the carry on, and then can fit between 40 and 46 litres of volume.
They also have a 67 centimetre, which is 3.9 kilos, not bad for the larger version, and that can actually fit up to 81 litres. They also have a 75 centimetre that fits 115 litres. And then lastly they have an 81 centimetre, pretty big, 5.1 kilos and super lightweight, that can fit 145 litres. It expands by one inch, which is actually quite a lot. You can pack a few more t-shirts, some socks, some pants, jeans. That really helps, and then you can try and squeeze it back down. But I'm always worried sometimes when you sit on one of these that you might break the suitcase, so just be cautious of that. I think the Samsonite Paralux carry on is pretty good, fitting up to 46 litres of items.
Samsonite Paralux carry on review of Internal layout and compartments
When it comes to the internal layout and compartments, I think this is what really drew me to this one. Right at the top initially is a front pocket that opens up the whole suitcase via a zip. So in a normal suitcase, if you want to get something inside your carry-on, you've got to open the middle zipper and then everything falls out, which is really annoying. With this, it has a front pocket that quickly opens.
You may think, won't people be able to steal all your stuff inside? Well no. It has that lock, that dual lock that I was talking about, for the front pocket itself. So that is probably the highlight, I would say, in my Samsonite Paralux carry-on review.
I've actually opened it up fully for my Samsonite paralux suitcase review so you can completely see it in the photo below. However, you can just open up slightly if you want, maybe a few inches, and you see those ribbings on the front that allow you to just quickly open it up without having to open up the whole suitcase front. In terms of the inside, if I open it up properly, it's got a zipper inside that you can open up with another compartment, you can probably put some socks in, and that's on the left when you open it up.
On the right-hand side, you have the ability to put extra stuff, and then it has the tie-down straps that you can use to secure your items. On top of that, it actually includes a small and medium removable packing cube that you can see just on the front of my photo.
Portability and ease of use
Wheels and manoeuvrability
I gave this a good stroll for my Samsonite Paralux suitcase review, and you can see it in my video. It was moving very well; it glided really smoothly. It has 8 wheels, so 4 dual wheels, which made it quite strong. The wheels do have some suspension, which I tried to feel and couldn't feel much, but my experience with Samsonite has been really good. It also has a 360-degree motion on the wheels, which means it glides even easier than a fixed motion. So good spinner wheels to use.
Handle and grip comfort
I tested out the telescopic handle and it felt very secure and strong. It went up and down, very satisfying. It didn't get locked or jammed, which can happen in other suitcases. The grip itself felt quite nice on my hand, and I'd probably say I've got medium sized hands, so the Samsonite Paralux handle felt really strong.
I also forgot to mention, just by the pull-out lever, there's a hook where you can add in an extra bag. But you've got to be careful because sometimes it may outweigh the carry-on and fall, and that's happened so many times to me in the past. The pull handle can actually be adjusted, which is a real benefit.
Security and travel features
Locks and safety
Security is a big thing for me. Because they've got that innovation on the front, how secure really is it? It has a TSA lock, so very strong. It has that combination lock so you can secure both areas, the inside and also the front, from people trying to get in.
Another benefit of having a TSA lock is that luggage inspectors can get into it without having to break the lock; they've got a special key. I also tested out the zips, the zips were pretty firm when I was opening them. Some cheaper suitcases can be quite flimsy and break, but the Samsonite ones seem to be getting better. Samsonite also has a global warranty, which is always reassuring.
Samsonite paralux suitcase review of weight and airline compatibility
Weight is always a concern when you're trying to travel light, especially when travelling domestically or short distances. I like to use carry-on as much as I can if it's a week or under. Being at 3 kilos, this is pretty standard with other carry-ons that I've reviewed in the past, so that works well.
It's compatible with most airlines like Qatar, Singapore Airlines, and others. However, most carry-on sizes for airlines are 55 centimetres by 40 centimetres by 20 centimetres, and the Paralux carry-on is 55 by 38 by 22. So for something like Ryanair, you wouldn't be able to fit this suitcase.
So make sure to double-check the carry-on sizes for all airlines you're flying with. This probably gives it a slight knockdown in my Samsonite Paralux carry-on review because it doesn't fit all airlines. But to be honest, most of the other carry-on suitcases I've reviewed are 25 and over, so it may just be a Ryanair thing, which is actually quite annoying.
Real-world performance
Airport and travel test
When going around the airport, it's a very compact suitcase, and the wheels really glided because of that 360-degree motion. You could just spin it very easily. Good marks for that in my samsonite paralux suitcase review.
But I think what's giving it the real extra bonus is the front door access at the front. The real-world example was my laptop. I put my laptop in there instead of having to open up my carry-on like I usually do and make sure everything stays in place. I just used the front side of this suitcase so I could easily take my laptop out.
As the years go by, more and more airports are allowing you to keep your luggage inside, but there are still a lot that don't, so that was a good benefit.
Value for money
Price vs quality
I think the Samsonite Paralux does sit on the more expensive side of things, with the carry-on being just over $300. However, they do have sales from time to time, and I'll include a link below so hopefully you can get a discount on it.
But I think the price is worth it because I've reviewed other suitcases before that are more expensive, but what you're really getting out of this and what's making my samsonite paralux carry on review really good is you've got that front pocket, you can easily take items out without having to open up the whole suitcase, you've got the dual lock in case you're thinking about security, you've got those 8 wheels, and you've got the really strong material.
I'm really giving it some bonus points in this Samsonite Paralux suitcase review because of the impact on the planet. That exterior shell has 50% recycled polypropylene, and then the 100% recycled aluminium for the handle tubes.
Samsonite Paralux suitcase review Pros and cons
Going over some pros and cons from my Samsonite Paralux carry on review, I would give it a 9 out of 10.
Things I loved:
- You've got that dual TSA lock.
- You've got the front pouch that can be opened very easily without having to get all your other items out. The design is very nice.
- You've got the polycarbonate shell which is made out of 50% recycled materials.
- The compartments have been very well thought out, and you get packing cubes included.
- You've got the one inch expansion.
- There's also a hook where you can add an extra bag by the pull-out lever.
- The pull handle can be adjusted.
- It also mentions suspension wheel technology so it's really about the innovation on here.
Samsonite Paralux carry on review improvements
- Although the hard shell is very protective, it doesn't have the flexibility that a soft shell can have. The airlines that really restrict you, you can't really squeeze the suitcase in so you will have to purchase another one.
- The price is a little bit higher compared to others.
- It doesn't have all the colours of the world, there's been other suitcases I've reviewed with more interesting colours but it does the job.
- With all the innovation that Samsonite had, I would think they'd make something a little bit lighter. So the fact that it's 3 kilos is pretty standard compared to so many older models, which is a shame given all the innovation.
Who should buy the Samsonite Paralux?
Going through the Samsonite Paralux suitcase review, I think it's the perfect suitcase for frequent travellers who need security and durability. I'd probably say business travellers who need to open up their suitcase all the time for laptops, or maybe families who need to open up items quickly.
The number of times I've seen families have to open up absolutely everything and then pack it all back in, is just super long. So this suitcase is really good for those needing to get items out quickly.
Final verdict, should you buy it?
So after testing the Samsonite Paralux, I think it's a real solid investment. While it is on the more expensive side, it's got a lot of innovation going for it compared to so many older models on the market. The pricing can be a bit more, but sometimes there are discounts you can get and I'll put a link below. I love the 8 wheels and also the TSA locks, plus the front compartment that opens up, and they also have that expansion on there.
